With skilled moves and practised steps, this city-based group of young dancers stole the spotlight at the 41st Mood Indigo cultural festival organised by IIT Mumbai. Over 75,000 students from over 500 colleges in India attended this cultural extravaganza which was held from December 18-21. The students of Funky Feet Dance Academy,Kothrud, won two prizes – the first prize in the ‘Xctacy’ category and the first runner-up spot in ‘Storm Trooper’.
‘Xcstasy’ was an open category and comprised all dance styles. “Our group had eight members and we are so thrilled to have won,” says Sheetal Bharadwaj who heads the dance academy. The other competition was 360 Street Dance and the students put up a Bboying performance choreographed by Bharadwaj. It was a wonderful experience to perform in front of such a large and diverse crowd. We practised hard for a whole month; I’m glad our hard work paid off, says Lucky, one of the students.
