There’s whole range of e-mail IDs and passwords, from the funny to the weird, adding spice to cyberspace
In a bid to be different from everyone else and add a new dimension to ‘uniqueness’,a whole host of email IDs and passwords are making an appearance on cyberspace and adding further spice to the goings on there. Sample these- ishani@coolgoose.com,adishfields@abc.com,goodmash@def.com,ytwentymen@gmail.com,wildindia@hotmail.com,rahul_whatever@gmail.com,13.nirali.13@rediffmail.com,prettyme_abc@gmail.com,catbcatb@yahoo.com,drdang@incredimail.com,godsavethequeen@hotmail.com,maya1234@gmail.com -just some of the examples of the variety of email address floating online.
While some says it’s just a bid to be unique, others give a more realistic view. “Earlier, when the net boom was just about beginning,e-mail IDs were easily available. Most people would just type their first and last names and the ID would be created. Today, however, there’s so much traffic and so many people vying for space online that you have to come up with unique names,” says Aanand Mishra,a small time entrepreneur, who has catbcatb@yahoo.com as his email address.
“Yes,I want to have a unique ID,one that doesn’t resemble anyone else’s,even remotely. After all,I spend most of my time online and people should be able to remember it easily,” feels Nirali Dogra,an MBA student, who has this address — 13.nirali.13@rediffmail.com.
Rajiv Mishra, software engineer adds,”My email id is cooldool40. I was in my school when I created this account with lot of expectations. I thought that the id would attract a lot of girls to chat with me and thus make new friends. But all my dreams shattered, when one of my chat friends asked me if I was 40 years old. I was not using the id since then, but while chatting with strangers,I use this id as in want to conceal my identity.”
Contrary to Mishra,Sheetal is registered on a renowned web portal and receives maximum number of friend’s request. “My id is Barbiequeen and the only reason I went for such id is that I wanted to feel good about myself. I was one stout girl with no good looks but my e-mail id helped me getting all the attention I missed in my school,” says she.
The reasons may differ, but the end result remains the same – to have an unmatched ID and leave a mark on the minds of friends and acquaintances.
However, where passwords are concerned,it’s a different ballgame altogether. Nobody is willing to take a chance with having a too-easy-to-guess password and hence, the variety in this field too,is amazing.
“I don’t like most of my colleagues and they kind of freak me out. That’s why,I’ve kept my password as a word which literally makes witches out of them. And you know what, each time I log on and type that word,it gives me a malicious pleasure,” says Meeta Kayasth,tongue-in-cheek,whose email address is chudailon@gmail.com.
From names of people you hate or love, the name of your place of birth, your favourite actor, and even some unmentionables, the passwords going around these days would definitely not ‘pass’ the test of propriety. However, there are certain other, positive factors too at work here. “A life coach I consulted recently told me that a good way to bring happiness and success into your life is to constantly be reminded of it and write it or read it. So,I’ve made a mantra she gave me as the password to my e-mail ID,” says Kusum Agarwal, whose ID goes adjustwithduck@gmail.com.
All said and done, the bottomline is that although seemingly weird and funny, there just may be a very solid logic behind an e-mail ID and password, even though it may defy logic or appear too contrived or downright offensive. So,whether you want to proclaim to the world how pretty you are,or curse someone or just wish to bring in some positive vibes into your life,go ahead and make it your mail ID or password. Just ensure it’s neither too easy to guess nor too predictable. Otherwise, others just may have a hearty laugh at your expense and splash your distinctiveness all over cyberspace.
