On Saturday,fashion reigned supreme at the 12th Annual Fashion Show of the School of Fashion Technology (SOFT). The undergraduate and post-graduate students presented their creations at the Orchid Convention Centre. The students were mentored by designers James Ferreira and Hemant Trivedi. The jury too comprised eminent personalities related to the field of fashion. The show was divided into two themes ‘Juxtaposed’ and ‘God is in detail’. The first was presented by the undergraduate students and it imparted the message of unity with contrast. It interpreted the theme with prints v/s stripes,checkered textured leather v/s light weight fabrics,simply artificial v/s natural,soft v/s rough,simplicity v/s complexity. The second theme revealed the concept of creation of unique art pieces. The show also saw the unveiling of ‘The SOFT Tabloid’ made by the fashion communication students. The students also created two Visual Merchandising Displays interpreting the main themes of the fashion show.
Painter’s Muse
This week,Bliss Art Gallery,Koregaon Park,has an exhibition that captures the temple-scapes. The exhibition is a series of images on temples by artist Sandip Yadav. On till April 5,it was inaugurated by artist Anand Jog. An artist always looks at the world around him to gain inspiration. Yadav says,”I search for different kind of subjects. For this particular theme,I have portrayed the shapes of temples and their relationship with the beauty of nature.” The artist has visited various temples in Nashik,Vai,and Satara. His interpretation of them on canvas is through different mediums like acrylic,water,and oil paints.
