Dattawadi police said on Friday that they were working on specific clues about the suspects in connection with the murder of Arjun Ghule, former sarpanch of Nandoshi village near here. He was killed in broad daylight near Dhayari Phata on Thursday afternoon by four persons with country made pistols and sharp choppers.
Satish Govekar, senior inspector with the Dattawadi police station, told Newsline,We are working on some specific leads about the suspects in the case and expect a breakthrough soon. Police suspect the murder to be the fallout of previous enmity. Ghule was sarpanch of Nandoshi village for about 15 years and, according to the police, had several criminal cases registered against him.
When asked whether there was any clear motive behind the murder,Govekar said,I cannot comment on that now. But we have formed teams who are working on individual leads in the case. On Thursday afternoon Ghule was attacked when he had come out of a shop. The attackers had left the pistols and choppers used by them on the crime scene. Police said Ghule was lying in a pool of blood till the police reached the spot.
