Judicial Magistrate First Class V B Bohra rejected the bail plea of Pimpri-based businessman Gopal Khatri (46) who was arrested by the crime branch after explosives and firearms were recovered from his car.
The bail plea was filed on September 30 by Khatris lawyer Sushil Mancharkar. He submitted to the court that Khatri was falsely implicated because of political rivalry and a complaint copy of Khatri against his alleged rivals has been given to the court. Mancharkar also stated that investigation in the case was over and nothing was recovered from him.
Objecting the bail application,the assistant public prosecutor Rajendra Suryavanshi stated that three country made revolvers,one pistol,eight live cartridges,10 detonators,eight gelatin sticks and some chemicals were found from his car.
The arrest of Khatri had led police to the arrest of other two accused Raghunath salve and Rajkiran Dabhade who had allegedly kept the explosives in the car,whereas other two accused are on the run, the prosecution submitted to the court. It was also stated that Khatri has four cases of molestation,assault,dowry and rioting pending against him. Suryavanshi also stated that there were chances of Khatri tampering with the evidence if released on bail.
After hearing both sides,the court rejected the bail stating that there were serious offences against Khatri and it cannot be concluded at this stage that Khatri was innocent. Also,the police has to investigate the source of explosives and firearms and establish the chain of events.
