Engineer held for cellphone theft

Sangvi Police on Sunday arrested an alleged mobile phone thief who was nabbed by a researcher along with her cousin and two citizens at Pimple Saudagar.

Sangvi Police on Sunday arrested an alleged mobile phone thief who was nabbed by a researcher along with her cousin and two citizens at Pimple Saudagar. Police said the suspect identified as Samir Dnayneshwar Boid (28),resident of Jawalkar Nagar in Pimple Saudagar,is an engineer working with a private company in Chakan.

The researcher Anita Arun Mantu (31),resident of Daffodils society in Pimple Saudagar,lodged the police complaint in this case. Police said Mantu and her cousin Siddhartha Dharampal Suri were going a motorcycle in Pimple Saudagar area. Samir was also riding a motorbike. He allegedly followed Suri’s bike and snatched the cell phone from Mantu,who was riding pillion,around 3 pm.

Suri and Mantu then chased Samir for about 2 kilometers and finally managed to nab him near Sinhagad Colony in Rahatni with the help of two citizens and handed him over to the cops. Police said Mantu is researcher at Computational Research Laboratories Limited in Pune.

Meanwhile,citizens chased and nabbed a mobile phone thief in Bhosari and handed him over to the police on Sunday night. The suspect has been identified as Prashant Prasad Bamaji (21),resident of Indira Nagar,Chinchwad.
