“The world of education is undergoing a great change with the changing times and we as educationists need to keep experimenting with our methods of teaching. It is with this aim to educate teachers about the changing trends in education that we are holding this conference of administrators and teachers from across the globe here,” said Anu Monga, chairperson,The Association of International Schools of India (TAISI). TAISI,which was started as an association heads of a few International schools in Bangalore in 2005 has grown today to involve international schools across the country to act as a platform for the exchange of ideas to revolutionise education. The conference, which was organised at Lavasa, saw the coming together of principals and directors from across the country as well as countries like Switzerland,Florida,Dhaka,Singapore,Australia and New York.

Speaking about the conference,Monga said,“The teaching practises are changing. Education is becoming more global. To change our techniques with time,we need to be in constant interaction with our counterparts from across the globe. Not only does that help us upgrade our techniques but also helps us to extracts the positives from their ways of teaching.” Since international schools have students from different parts of the globe,Monga feels that the teachers in the schools need to have a grasp of different cultures. “One of the student in the class might be from Korea and his way of life might be very different from ours. Hence, there is a need for teachers to keep updating themselves and have a knowledge of different cultures across the globe,” said Monga.

However, she also threw light on a problem she saw in most of the international schools across the country. “The main problem I saw here was that most of the schools want only expats as their heads,“added Monga.

The conference, which started on September 23 and will continue till September 26,will see various seminars and workshops on innovations and changes in education and exploring the possibilities in the the field.
