If Vidya Balan insists on harking back to the bygone era with each Sabya-designed ensemble (its essentially a prolonged Maharani Gayatri Devi hangover),Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto are saving the day on the red carpet at Festival de Cannes. The two ladies seemed to have got it right with both their appearances on Day 2. Kapoor was togged out in a voluminous white Dolce & Gabbana gown with bold floral prints coupled with a Sunita Kapoor necklace and printed pumps. Pinto attended the Jeune & Jolie screening in a glamorous gild web gown custom designed by Indian designer Sanchita Ajjampur.

Two to Tango
In more ways than one,it is a memorable year for actor-director Sachin Pilgaonkar. While he is completing 50 years in the film industry,he is also launching his daughter Shriya in the film Ekulti Ek. While promoting the film in the city recently,he said the film is contemporary and explores many layers of the relationship between a father and his daughter. Every parent documents his/her childs childhood memory in pictures. I did the same with Shriya. But now that she is all grown up,I decided to do something big for her. Thats my thought behind producing Ekulti Ek, he said. Shriya said the film is a perfect launchpad for her. In the film,my fathers immeasurable experience and my rawness find a beautiful balance, she says.
