The Yerawada police have arrested a 27-year-old man who allegedly snatched a gold chain from a woman on Saturday after approaching her on the pretext of enquiring about the availability of accommodation. Accused Kiran Maruti More,a resident of Subhash Nagar,was produced before Judicial Magistrate First Class G A Pandey,who sent him to five days police custody. Nilam Vimalkumar Bhadhoria,40,a resident of Ambedkar Colony,Loopnagar Road,had lodged a complaint with the Yerawada police.
On September 14,Bhadoria was sweeping her courtyard around 8 am when More came with another person on a motorbike and asked her if she planned to rent out a room in the house,said the police. As she moved closer to More,he snatched her chain worth Rs 30,000 and fled. Bhadorias neighbours chased them after hearing her cries but could not stop them. In the court,public prosecutor Anil Kumbhar argued that Mores police custody was required to recover the chain.

Minutes after a 20-year-old youth snatched a gold chain from a boy near Bhosari Square,traffic control branch and Bhosari police personnel arrested him. Pradyumna Ghundare,2,was going to the market with his mother around 6 pm Sunday when the incident occurred . Police said as suspect Vithhal Anna Gaikwad of Chakan snatched the chain and started fleeing,constables Ramesh Ugale and Babruvan Thete who were nearby gave him a chase. A team led by Inspector Chandrakant Bhosale joined them and caught Gaikwad. Part of the broken chain has been recovered.
