The annual engineering college festival conducted by the Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT),SUMMIT-09 concluded on Sunday,with the winners of the 14 different tournaments being announced on the final day. In badminton,MIT lost the finals of both men’s and women’s events to PVG college of engineering,and VIT respectively.
In other sports,COEP won the chess championship,in table tennis DJ Sangvi college of engineering won the men’s title and Cummins college of engineering won the women’s version.
Satyabhama University,Chennai won the men’s basketball tournament beating VIT,while VIT won the women’s leg beating Army Institute of Technology. Carom was won by MIT who beat COEP in the finals 2-0. However in the womens football tourney,MIT lost a nail-biting match to Cummins college of engineering in the penalty shootout match 3-1,with Rinchin Mahajan,Pooja Keskar and Kshitija Deshmikh of Cummins scoring a goal each and Jyoti Gaikwad of MIT scoring one.
As a result of their stoic display in all the competitions of the tournament MIT college managed to bag the overall championship for the competition this year.
