The All India Bar Exam that was to be held,for the second time on June 26 has been postponed to July 24

AIBE postponed to July 24

The All India Bar Exam (AIBE) that was to be held,for the second time on June 26 has been postponed to July 24. According to a press release from the Bar Council of India that conducts the exam,it was postponed following requests from candidates to enable them appear for various judicial examinations to be conducted across the country. Students who had failed to clear the exam when it was held on March 6 and fresh candidates can take the exam. Students can apply for the exam either online through the BCI website or collect application forms from the state bar councils.

Bail for cops held for abetting suicide

The court of principal district and sessions judge Anant Badar has granted anticipatory bail to assistant police inspector Shashikant Chavan and constable Ramakant Gawli,both from Narayangaon police station,for alleged abetment of suicide of a PAN card agent Kailash Chaskar.

The policemen will be released on furnishing a personal bond of Rs 10,000 each and a solvency surety. Chaskar had committed suicide in Bhosari on May 11. Alleging police harassment,a mob of over 400 later brought his body to Narayangaon police station and demanded action against Chavan.

Man gets 3 yrs in prison for assault

Judicial Magistrate First Class S N Salve of Khadki Cantonment court sentenced Irfan Shoukat Ali Ansari (26) of Tingare Nagar to three-year rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 4,000,for assaulting a man in 2008. The fine will go to the victim as compensation. Ghulam Nabi Majid Khan (50) of Tingare Nagar had lodged a complaint with Vishrantwadi police station. Three years prior to the incident,Khan had borrowed Rs 45,000 at 10 per cent interest a month from Ansari.

Khan paid Rs 5,000 per month as interest amount and again took Rs 45,000 from Ansari at the same interest rate. Khan claimed to have repaid the principal amount and interest but Ansari demanded more money. On August 23,2008,Ansari went to Khan’s house and assaulted him after an argument. Assistant public prosecutor Balasaheb Kadam examined nine witnesses. Ansari was convicted u/s 326 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC.
