Cong accepting defeat before elections: Javadekar

Prakash Javadekar said that Congress was already accepting a defeat before the elections.

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan’s remark on considering a post-poll alliance with NCP if they fail to get a complete majority in the Pune Municipal Corporation elections,BJP National spokesperson and MP Prakash Javadekar said that Congress was already accepting a defeat before the elections. “This is a clear and positive sign for the maha alliance as other parties are not confident of their win. They are contesting the elections independently but are considering a post-poll alliance. This itself is deviating the public,’’ said Javadekar while addressing a press meet at the BJP city office. On the maha alliance yet to release their joint manifesto,he said though the parties are in an alliance, they are all releasing their independent agendas but will release their joint manifesto on Monday.

When asked about there being no BJP road shows and no senior leaders campaigning for the civic elections,he said that leader of the opposition Eknath Khadse,Gopinath Munde will be campaigning for the elections.

On Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi coming to Pune,he said that he was busy with Uttar Pradesh elections. “We are yet to get a confirmation,’’he said.

Taking on the deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar for his declarations of getting the Metro to Pune and there being no PMRDA for the district,he said,“Even with the NCP being in power, they have failed to address the needs which they are now promising,’’ said Javadekar.

‘Deshmukh should resign’

On the national front,Javadekar took on Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and the party on playing vote bank politics. With the recent high court judgement on the land in Mumbai given by former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh to director Subhash Ghai,he said the minister should resign from the central government. “Such kind of malpractices in the land issues should be addressed. The minister should resign,’’said Jawdekar.
