NCP tables proposal to reduce octroi on petrol
With civic elections a few months away,political parties are out to woo voters. The ruling NCP has tabled a proposal in the standing committee to bring down the octroi charges on petrol and diesel. “The PMC presently charges two per cent octroi on petrol. This should be brought down to one per cent,” NCP corporator Srickant Patil said.
HSC results at MS-CIT centres
With the HSC results scheduled to come out soon,students may check their results at the MS-CIT centres. The Maharashtra Gyaan Mahamandal has approved the move. The results can be viewed at 5,000 MS-CIT centres located across the state. Students may book their number to view the results in advance at the centres.
Historysheeter externed for a year
A female history sheeter,identified as Sharda Kumar Gaikwad (46),from Balajinagar area in Bhosari has been externed by the Pune police for one year. As per the order, police said that Gaikwad was involved in 12 house break-ins,thefts and other offences. She used to help the thieves in selling the stolen valuables.
Two Iranians illegally residing in city deported
The police have deported two Iranians who were illegally residing in the city for the past four years. The suspects,identified as Torkan Hussaini and Mehershad Sadegi,who used to organise night parties for foreign nationals in Pune,came to India on student visas. However,they did not take admission in any educational institutes in the city and were found to be involved in drug trade. They also procured fake residential permits,the police said.
