For gym instructor Girish Ladkat,having workable solutions to health problems is the way forward
Its a simple formula, says Girish Ladkat,Heavy moderate – light that is how I would put my eating regime in a day as. Ladkat has been a gym instructor for the past seven years,training people who are either fight obesity or just trying to be fit. I think fitness is a daily thing and so it is important to maintain a diet that is easy and convenient to follow. Working at the Abs Fitness and health Club,Nuclues Mall,Ladkat trains around 30-40 people every day.
But what is the one fitness rule that he assigns to himself? I am in such a profession that I have to be fit,no matter what. So ideally,I prefer following a diet that is low on carbohydrate and high on energy. Ladkat’s typical day begins early,with a glass of milk and cereals. I follow that with a work-out that lasts around 2-3 hours. And then a good breakfast that is low on carbohydrates like upma ,poha or idli . I work out again at 12 for an hour-and-a-half. While weight training and teaching constitute his most important work,counseling is something he is personally interested in. I counsel around ten people every day and it’s overwhelming,and equally heartening,to see the rising concern for health. Keeping that in mind,I also feel that giving advice needs to be balanced with communicating workable solutions.
In the daily diet plan,Ladkat chalks in a hearty breakfast,followed by a moderate lunch consisting of curd or butter milk,dal ,salad,sprouts and two chappatis and also a bowl of soup,if available. After a gap of 3-4 hours,he has light snacks and milk. I have rice only twice a week and dinner is usually very light. Supper mostly means a bowl of curd,chapatti and green leafy vegetables. This is followed by another two hours of workout and a glass of milk before sleeping.
It must take a lot of willpower to maintain such a routine in the midst of all the junk food floating around. I guess junk food once in a while is alright. And then there are so many healthy options also that one can choose. Say,for example,using whole grain or seven grain bread,or eating salads with different sauces,and cutting down on cheese.
