If it’s a quiz, then Kumar Saurabh and V Nivesh are sure to be there. These two students from Balaji Institute of Management and HRD have been regular participants at city quizzes like the competition at Parganas, the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (Mumbai) (NMIMS) 2010 cultural festival, the corporate quiz competition at Symbiosis College for Information Technology 2011 and the Tata Crucible 2011. The duo struck gold at the National Students’ Quiz organised by the National Human Resource Development Network on November 19 in Bengaluru.

Thousands of management students from across the country registered for the quiz. A total of 700 teams were selected. After shortlisting, six teams qualified for the final round.

At the finals,Saurabh and Nivesh battled their wits against teams from Symbios Institute of Operations Management (SIOM) Nashik,Welingkar Institute of Management Mumbai & Bengaluru, and two teams from XIME,Bengaluru. The participants were quizzed on their knowledge of human resource management, finance, marketing and more. General awareness and current affairs were also important categories. “We have been participating in quiz competitions since the beginning of our Masters course in 2010. We are roommates and thus share a good comfort level,” says 23-year-old Nivesh.

Both these management students have different areas of expertise. Saurabh is interested in current affairs and management topics while Nivesh’s forte is history and GK. “We spend a lot of time at our college library which provides us with a fantastic collection of reference books on a variety of subjects,” says Saurabh who originally hails from Patna.
