After winning 29 seats in the civic elections,Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray said his party would work for developing basic infrastructure in the city such as efficient public transport system. Thackeray said he would increase his visits to the city and will himself take important party decisions for the development of the city.
Thackeray was speaking to mediapersons during his Pune visit on Saturday. He said he was overwhelmed with the performance of his party in Pune. Even other parties did not expect such a performance from MNS, he said.
When asked whether MNS benefited in Pune due to division of votes between Congress and NCP who contested separately,Thackeray said his party actually benefited because people considered it the best alternative to other political outfits who have been playing with the emotions of voters.
MNS also won four seats in the PCMC. Thackeray further said due to time limitations,I could not campaign more in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad during elections.
I would be focusing on the city. People have shown faith in MNS. I would make my corporators work for people, he said. Thackeray said if MNS gets the post of the leader of Opposition in the PMC,his party will handle it with utmost responsibility. Thackeray also said MNS is growing in all cities of the state, including the rural parts.
Meanwhile,Thackeray received a huge welcome at the MNS party office in Narayan Peth. There was traffic jam for sometime and the police had to divert the flow of vehicles from Alka Chowk.
