When Shantanu Murlidhar Naik (35),squadron leader with the Air Force, went to an ayurveda doctor to treat his skin ailment, little did he know that instead of getting cured,it would become the worst nightmare of his life.
According to inspector Motichand Rathod of Vishrambaug police station,Naik,a resident of Saisadan,309,CIDCO in New Aurangabad, had come to the city from Bangalore in August 2007. Since he was suffering from skin ailment,he visited Shree Aushadalay at Bajirao Road. Bajirao Sambhaji Pawar,a resident of Gokhalenagar, examined him and prescribed him some medicines, which he bought from Dr. Shashikant Gabubai Zaveri,a resident of Nirmal Park in Chavan Nagar. Then Pawar mixed some of his own ayurvedic medicine in the medicines he brought from Zaveri and asked Naik to consume them. But,instead of his skin ailment getting cured,he suffered serious stomach ailments.
He then approached the Vishrambaug police and registered a case against the duo following which the police arrested both Pawar and Zaveri.
While interrogating Pawar and Zaveri, the police discovered that the duo did not have educational qualifications to pursue medical practice. The police booked them under Section 338 (causing grievous hurt by endangering life or personal safety) and Section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners laws.
