Winning the toss,Capgemini decided to take the field. The decision seemed to pay off for them as Cognizant were in dire straits when they had lost half of their main batsmen with only 41 runs on the board. In reply,Capgemini looked like they had lost the plot after the explosive 80-run partnership by Sharma and More and looked very meek while batting. The top order failed to deliver, forcing them to slip to a total of 61 runs for the loss of six wickets. Capgemini batsmen Anup Mohapatra (40* runs,29 balls,2 fours,3 sixes) and Deepak Thokal (21* runs,27 balls,1 four,1 six) started to control the damage. However, the initial dents were too severe for them to fill as Capgemini finished 25 runs short of the target.
In the other match played at the same venue,Mather & Platt registered their second consecutive victory over Sakal in their league round match. Electing to bat first after winning the toss,Mather & Platt did not start off well, losing two quick wickets.
