A walk to remember

More designers and greater designs amplified the glamour quotient further on day 2 of the Pune Fashion Week

The youngest designer embellished the hottest models and then the youngest model walked for the couturier as the second day of the Pune Fashion Week made headway for the cult of cuts and couture with greater elegance. While actress Ishaa Koppikar sizzled wearing Nivedita Saboo’s collection, models including Arwa,Anchal Kumar and Poppy Jabal walked with an array of designer ensembles on its subsequent day at Westin Hotel.

Besides Saboo the other designers for the evening included Prachi Badwe,Vikrant and Jega,Salim Asgarally, and a blaze of Jaihind collections. Pooja Chopra sashayed the ramp being the showstopper for Asgarally and 11-year-old Prachi whose teenage collection primarily consisted of frocks. “The models were my Barbie dolls and adorning them was a great experience especially when Pooja walked for me wearing a Bandhani gown. My Indo-Western collection is very wearable with earthly tones,” said the 6th standard student who has a diploma certificate in fashion designing.

The Jaihind collection displayed a royal legacy with a special line by Mewar with sherwanis and Indo-Western outfits embossed with swarowski stones, sequence and zardosi works. Attended by who’s who in the city, the show choreographed by Satyajit Joglekar also saw 8-year-old Ariya Taware walk the ramp. Saghar was the showstopper for Vikrant and Jega whose Black and White theme inspired by Madhubani paintings attracted much appreciation. “Although they are very colourful and vibrant the black and white lines on the paintings form their identity and we attempted to play around with those lines. Working on shirts we focused on collars that you will find on the arms,at the back and so on introducing innovativeness yet keeping it very much simple,” added Vikrant.

Pune’s own Nivedita Saboo stole the limelight with models walking down the ramp to a jam-packed audience wearing her classy bridal collection. Asgarally’s Fearless collection was all about contrasts and dramatic and geometrical patterns. “It is inspired from the concept that there is nothing to be feared in this world except God thereby portraying vigor through strong colours and outlines with a mélange of fabrics like linen, chiffon, lycra, leather and so on,” he added stressing that the fashion week is the right thing to have happened at the right time to Pune which is a terrific market for designer wear.
