Thane civic body razes 13 illegal structures

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) demolished four ‘illegal’ buildings in Mumbra and 9 in Diva area in Thane on Thursday. TMC officials said some buildings had additional floors constructed which were illegal and some of the constructions were entirely illegal.

“The structures which were demolished in Mumbra had additional floors,which were illegal,whereas the structures that were demolished in Diva were completely illegal,” said a TMC official.

In Mumbra,the TMC officials also demolished the fourth floor of Noor apartments in Kausa area and fifth floor of another building in Papa ka Naka area.

A year ago,the Bombay High Court had rapped the TMC for not taking any action against the illegal constructions mushrooming in the city. Since June more than 10,000 structures including structures on footpaths and pavements were demolished by the TMC
