Delhi lad Anand Bhushan is fast becoming a name thats synonymous with arguably the most luxurious textures. The NID and NIFT alumnus is always concerned with the future of textiles and texture in fashion, and presents it with a sophisticated yet subaltern point of view.
The theme this season,in an appropriation to metallics,is Junkyard. His collection is in tones of grey, and sequins are brilliantly used as hardware. Scrap parts, rusted metal and machine components seem as if picked up from a factory floor and used beautifully on fabric. If Bhushan has been critiqued for too much texture and uncomfortable structures, many of these ensembes are definitely more fluid. There are jackets with trousers, dresses, tunics with pants if the silhouttes seem banal, the surfaces are super-fun,even edgy. The colours are cold steel, copper patina and weathered metal. There are still a few pieces that look painful to wear,as if the fabric may scrape the skin and bruise it. But then, theres always the Arab buyer,no?
