Prithvi Theatre has opened its doors to many interesting activities other than those related to theatre. After hosting “Chai and Why”,a monthly discussion on scientific issues, documentary screenings and literary meets,it now introduces T’ai Chi lessons on its premises in the suburban Juhu. An internal martial art and health exercise,T’ai Chi is based on the ancient Chinese Tao philosophy and is believed to have originated in China in the 17th century. Its benefits include improved breathing, concentration, control, grace and suppleness of body movement. Sandeep Desai — who has been studying the martial arts for years — will conduct these sessions at Prithvi Theatre. To be held on Wednesdays and Fridays, starting August 8,the 45-minute classes begin at 8.30 am.
