The accused, Osama Ali Yusuf Ahmed, 22, had arrived on a student visa in October 2022 and was studying commerce at a local college in Aurangabad.
As per the complaint registered against him, Ahmed on Thursday night invited two young boys aged 15 to his residence in HUDCO Aurangabad. The boys alleged that after they went in, Ahmed locked the door and started reciting from a book, asking them to repeat what he was saying.
The teenagers claimed that when they declined, Ahmed allegedly whipped them with a wire. The two fled the place and reported the incident to their families. The father of one of the children then approached the City Chowk Police Station complaining that the Sudanese national was forcing the children to convert to Islam.
A case was subsequently filed against Ahmed and he was arrested.
“He has been booked as of now for wrongful restraint and Section 14B of the Foreigners Act. We are looking into the claims of forcible conversion,” an officer from the City Chowk Police Station said.
