Krishna statue removal case: The Telangana High Court has dismissed a plea filed by the fan club of late Telugu superstar Krishna against an order of the Mahabubnagar Municipal Corporation asking the removal of his statue.

Justice B Vijaysen Reddy said he was not “inclined to entertain this petition” and held, “petitioner had neither obtained any permission for installing the statue nor obtained any site allotment orders from the competent authorities.”

The association’s district president Ramesh Babu, 35, had filed the plea to declare the civic body’s November order as “illegal, arbitrary and unconstitutional”, arguing it was issued in violation of Articles 21 (right to life and personal liberty) and 300A (no person shall be deprived of their property, and that states can only acquire property through a valid legal process and not arbitrarily) of the Constitution.

The court dismissed the plea on November 27 but allowed four weeks’ time to shift the statute from the area in question to another place on the request of the association’s counsel G Rajeshwar Rao.
