Epic Designs
India continues to be a source of inspiration for Italian fashion house Etro. Much has to do with its creative director Kean Etros love for Indian colours and motifs. In a recent interview,Kean admitted that he sees India as a country of colours and paisley and ancient Indian stories fascinate him. After launching the Etro India jacket last year, the Italian fashion house recently presented its Spring-Summer 2013 collection at Milan Fashion Week. The collection has been inspired by the epic verses of the Mahabharata. The India influence is all over the collection from silk turbans and Nehru jackets to long-flowing shirts. The silhouettes are soft, contrasting with the discipline of tailoring details and bold cuts. Staying true to the Indian theme, the collection uses silk along with yarn-dyed treated cottons, with a modified structure. The signature Etro paisley print,in its traditional and original version,is interpreted in mellow shades. The colours range from blue to brilliant white and reflect the vibrancy of India.
