Gujarat Confidential: Double trouble

Retired IPS officer Keshav Kumar, now serving as Adviser to the Assam government, was involved in two consecutive accidents while on his way from Ahmedabad to Sanand for a function on Tuesday. Keshav Kumar, who superannuated in 2021 at the rank of DGP while posted as Director of the Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau, in a social media post, said he managed to escape with minor injuries to the head, shoulder, neck and back. He credited constable Laljibhai of ‘M’ Division Traffic Police for taking him to the nearest hospital for treatment on his motorcycle. A police officer confirmed, “He was on his way to Sanand when there was an accident on the road and sir’s vehicle suffered minor damage. However, they continued on their way. Then, on Shantipura bridge the bonnet of the car opened while the vehicle was moving and so the driver stopped the car near the divider. A tanker behind the vehicle tried hard but could not stop the vehicle in time, and hit sir’s car from behind. The driver was sent to the hospital in an ambulance and sir was taken to a hospital by constable Laljibhai.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to reach Surat on Saturday to attend a pre-wedding function organised by industrialist Sanwarmal Budhiya. Budhiya, a Surat-based textile businessman, told this newspaper, “My grandson is getting married to the daughter of a textile businessman from Gorakhpur in UP who has good relations with UP CM Yogiji, who will be in Surat on Saturday. Yogiji will stay for nearly an hour and later fly back to Lucknow”. Given the high-profile visit, only a limited number of guests have been invited to Saturday’s event. Budhiya, who hails from Rajasthan, is also considered close to Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil.
