Marathi actor Urmila Kothare’s car runs over 2 workers in Kandivali; 1 killed

Marathi actor Urmila Kothare’s car ran over two labourers working at a Metro construction site in Mumbai’s Kandivali early Saturday morning, killing one and injuring the other, the police said. Kothare and her driver, who was booked for rash and negligent driving, were also injured in the accident.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 12.45 am on Saturday. Kothare dropped off a friend at Jogeshwari and was heading towards her home in Thane via Ghodbunder Road when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle near Poisar Metro station in Kandivali.

“She had just wrapped up her shooting and was returning home when the incident took place,” a police officer said. “One of the labourers was declared dead upon arrival. The driver and the actress have also sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment,” the officer added.

A case was registered against Kothare’s driver at the Samta Nagar police station.
