A 10-year-old boy,who was kidnapped 10 days ago from Mumbai and rescued in Allahabad,was reunited with his family on Monday.
The boy was rescued in a joint operation of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch and the Allahabad Police. The Santacruz police arrested three persons for allegedly demanding a ransom of Rs 50,000.
The police said Kanhaiyalal M Ganesh was kidnapped and taken to Allahabad. A Mumbai Police team got in touch with the Allahabad Police following information that the kidnappers had taken the boy to a village in the Meja area of Allahabad. On Friday,the team reached the spot and rescued the boy.
Our team did not move ahead the entire night although we had surrounded the house,so that the kidnappers would not hurt the boy, said S Avhad inspector. He added that three persons,identified as Harikishan,Raj Kumar Vishwakarma,and Harikishans father-in-law Beni Prasad,have been arrested.
While the first two allegedly kidnapped the boy and brought him to Allahabad,Beni Prasad had allegedly allowed his bank account to be used for getting a part of the ransom money.
The accused were friendly with the victims family and allegedly hatched a plan to kidnap the child. They allegedly made a ransom for Rs10 lakh,but settled on Rs 50,000.
