The Antop Hill police have detained a domestic help and her husband for the murder of Ranjana Nagorkar (65) and her three-year-old granddaughter at their Antop Hill house on Friday. Cash and jewellery were found stolen from the house. The necks of the victims were slit with a sharp object and the house was ransacked, said inspector S Patil of the Antop Hill police. Pushpa (domestic help) had not been reporting to work without prior intimation. Her husband,Chankaliya,has also been called for questioning.There are robbery cases against him for which he was arrested in the past, said an officer of the Antop Hill police station.

Extortion bid in MLAs name,2 held

The Dahisar police have arrested two persons for using an MLAs name to extort money. Police said the duo had on Friday called the office of Tanvi Builders in Kandivali and pretended to be speaking on behalf of MLA Vinod Ghosalkar. They asked for Rs 51,000 for a citizens ambulance on behalf of the MLAs party. The company officials found the fraud when they cross-checked,and filed a complaint.
