Pooja Pillai picks the looks that flashed big on our trend-spotting radar at the just concluded Lakme Fashion Week

Top gear:A lot of designers showed headgears part of their collections this season, but we especially loved the geometric creation that Ruchika Sachdeva showed on the runway. It goes a step ahead of last season’s obsession with feathers and flowers, and will add some edge to a flirty cocktail outfit.

High and hip:

Amalraj Sengupta’s high-waisted trousers had the perfect amalgamation of the season’s top trends — retro-chic and androgyny. Remember to wear killer stilletoes and a feminine blouse to nail the look.

Pocket the style:Each season we discover new ways to adore the humble pocket. Riddhi and Siddhi Mapxencar’s ode to architecture had pockets decorating the hem. Keep your spare change there if you like, but the slight quirkiness they bring to the outfit should be enough to love it.

Military rule: If spring/summer was about feminine trends,autumn/winter sees more structure coming into the style maven’s wardrobe. Arjun Saluja’s sexy military looks were perfectly tailored, with a hint of the dominatrix in them. We approve.

re-use

and twist:Sougat Paul showed us the smart way to use discarded electronic parts, where they become an organic part of the ensemble and don’t scream for attention. The hem of his dress, discreetly decorated with watch parts, looked pretty and distinct.
