Fashion refreshed

The story of French fashion giant Louis Vuitton’s romance with India is an old,and oft-repeated one.

The story of French fashion giant Louis Vuitton’s romance with India is an old,and oft-repeated one. In keeping with the entente cordiale that has long existed between France and India, the house of Louis Vuitton recently held an exhibition of banker Albert Kahn’s legendary collection of pictures from India. In the same vein,on January 18,Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton,Yves Carcelle, came down to the city to announce the re-opening of its store in Taj Mahal Palace and Tower in Colaba,as well as in the Taj Land’s End,Bandra. Carcelle made it very clear that despite the terrorist attack on November 26,2008,in Mumbai which had affected the Taj store,Louis Vuitton’s commitment to its clientele in India remains strong as ever. He said,“We have grown close links with the country and its people who have shown a respect for tradition while at the same time looking to the future.”

The evening took on a celebratory tone with a grand party hosted by Carcelle and LV advisor Tikka Singh at the Taj Land’s End where society queens along with tinseltown starlets turned up,dressed in the best of LV. Hollywood’s It girl,Freida Pinto, showed style on home turf Mumbai, while B-town’s stylissimas Kangna Ranaut,Lara Dutta,Genelia,Deepika Padukone and Preity Zinta too were dressed in their favourite monogram.
