Jimal Garodiya (27),the driver of the Honda City car which rammed a divider at Kherwadi Junction in Bandra (East) last week resulting in the death of his friend,is likely be discharged from hospital on Saturday. Kherwadi police said that they will arrest Garodiya immediately after he is discharged in connection with the accident.
Garodiya and Ankita Chedha (24),who were reportedly to be engaged in April, met with an accident around 3:15 am on December 30 when the former lost control of the car. While Garodiya survived the accident,Chedha lost her life.
Garodiya,an NRI,has been accused of rash driving and causing death by negligence. Officers probing the case said he may have been driving the car under the influence of alcohol. While blood sample reports are still awaited, doctors at the state-run Bhabha Hospital are believed to have commented in the OPD reports that the driver was drunk, said officers.
Senior police inspector Avaduth Chawan of Kherwadi police station said that doctors have told the police that Garodiya is likely to be discharged on Saturday.
Garodiya had undergone an operation. As soon as he is discharged,we will arrest him, said Chawan.
Chawan said Garodiyas condition has improved a lot since he was first brought to the hospital.
After the accident, the two were rushed to Bhabha Hospital. While Cheda was declared dead on arrival,Garodiya was alive but critical. He was later shifted to Lilavati Hospital when he was suffering from internal bleeding. Doctors had to perform a surgery and he is out of danger now, said Chawan.
