Gold ornaments worth Rs 63 lakh looted

Five unidentified armed robbers threatened employees of a jewellery designing unit in Goregaon and looted ornaments worth Rs 63 lakh on Tuesday night. The police suspect the role of an insider in the robbery. “We were working at the time so gold ornaments and some gold bricks were strewn around. The men entered the shop and threatened us with choppers. They held us at knife point and looted gold weighing 2,800 gram and our mobile phones. After the robbery, the five walked out casually,” said 28-year-old manager of the shop,Samil Jain,in his police complaint. The police recorded the statement of the watchman who said he did not suspect anything as the robbers looked like labourers and many workers move around on the premises since it is an industrial estate.
