The suspension of Suraj Singh Thakur,25,from the post of National Students Union of India (NSUI) president (Mumbai unit) had been revoked,NSUI national secretary Nigam Bhandari said on Friday. Bhandari said Thakur was suspended, along with two other office-bearers,in May for misbehaving with seniors at a workshop.
His suspension has been revoked after consulting senior party leaders on the matter, said Bhandari.
Thakur had claimed that he was wrongly implicated.
Thakur was suspended after video footage emerged of him dancing shirtless at an official function of the organisation in Panvel. Thakur also allegedly forced others to remove their shirts. The NSUI is the students wing of the Congress.
Thakurs suspension was ordered by NSUI leadership after the organisations members and faculty of Jawaharlal Nehru Leadership Institute complained of improper behaviour on his part. Thakur, who has been a member of NSUI for seven years, was elected to the post last year.
