CCI,ECC teams enter quarterfinals

CCI ‘Rockets’ and Elphinstone Cricket Club ‘Bappachibum’ registered impressive wins to enter the quarter-finals,in the BSAM World Zoroastrian Organisation Trust Mumbai Snooker League 2013,at the Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana.

After Rajeev Adani upset Himanshu Jain in the opening singles,‘Rockets’ rallied to a 3-1 win over Dadar Club ‘Stalwarts’,with Nitin Dossa and N. Hemdev combining to win the second doubles tie and Rishabh Pandya making it 2-1 before Jain returned for the crucial fourth singles tie to avenge his earlier loss with a narrow 81-69 win over Adani.

In another pre-quarter-final,‘Bappachibum’ coasted to a 3-0 win over Matunga Gymkhana ‘Gentlemen’. Farhad Tengra and Mahesh Jagdale won the opening doubles tie before Siddharth Shah snatched the second singles in an exciting black ball finish and Sunil Jain overcame a gritty Shailesh Rao 105-82 in a tight third singles.

Playing with a +50 handicap,Rao was under pressure to keep Gentlemen’s hopes alive. But Jain,playing with a +30 handicap,potted brilliantly and marked his effort with a stunning blue cannon to take the match away.
