The IDC School of Design at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay on Tuesday announced the launch of the ePostgraduate Diploma in Interaction Design (ePGD IxD) aimed at working professionals. The innovative course covers topics such as interaction design and human-computer interaction (HCI), and will provide academic credits to working professionals for the first time.

Participants will have the option to use the earned credits to claim the diploma certificate from IIT Bombay. They will also get to deposit these credits to be used in any other programme at other institutions.

The first edition of the course will take place in person from March 17 to April 1 and is currently open for registration.

According to a statement issued by the institute, the ePGD IxD is designed to be a flexible self-paced programme.

“Learners don’t need to register for the whole programme up-front, but only for the courses that they are interested in. Each course earns them 6 to 12 credits. Once a learner earns 36 or more credits (by attending 5 to 6 courses), they could use the credits to claim the ePGD IxD from IIT Bombay. Alternatively, learners could deposit the credits in the Academic Bank of Credits and use them elsewhere for other programmes,” IIT stated.

The institute further added that the Monsoon Course on HCI, offered by the IDC School of Design since 2000, will now be integrated into the ePGD IxD programme under the title ‘Design of Interactive Products’, and will carry 12 credits.

Under the ePGD IxD programme, there will be seven other courses available for learners to be able to complete the necessary credits to claim the diploma.
