Man nabbed on suspicion says he robbed cops house An officer from the Charkop police station nabbed a man on suspicion during a nakabandi,who later turned out to be the one who had robbed a police officers house. According to PI Dayanand Bandekar,on Tuesday night,he noticed a man carrying hammer and other tools in an autorickshaw. He intercepted the auto and asked the passenger why was he carrying the tools. The man said he was a labourer and was on his way home. Not satisfied with his reply,Bandekar took him to the police station for enquiry. At the police station,the man,identified as Gopal Nashkar (25),broke down and confessed he was a robber, said Bandekar. On further questioning,Nashkar revealed that he had broken into three house in the locality,one of which was Bandekars. Bandekar then realised that Nashkar was the thief he had been looking for since two months. Nashkar had stolen Rs 75,000 from Bandekars house when he and his family was out. The police have recovered Rs 62,000 from Nashkar and a laptop that he had stolen from another house. The police have arrested him for theft. Four arrested for murder bid in Antop Hill Four persons were arrested by the Antop Hill police for allegedly bludgeoning a person. The injured,Dinesh Saroj (22),is admitted to Sion Hospital where his condition is said to be critical. The police said Dinesh was assaulted by Gopal Gupta (22),Zakir Shaikh (19),Salim Ali (16) and Sonu Sayeed (17) on July 24. "Dinesh and his friend Sandeep Patoli met for drinks in Mankhurd. Later,Dinesh called up Gupta's wife who he was reportedly seeing for the past six months. Gupta overheard his wife's conversation with Dinesh and got into an argument with him on the phone," said Police Sub-Inspector Sudhakar Malgundhe. When Dinesh and Patoli reached GTB Nagar,he called up Gupta's wife again following which Gupta along with the other accused met Dinesh and smashed his head with a stone.
