Panel formed to address problems of resident doctors
The state government on Monday told the Bombay High Court it has formed a committee to address the problems faced by resident doctors in state and civic-run hospitals. The statement was made in response to a PIL filed challenging a proposed strike by resident doctors of the Sion Hospital. The doctors had threatened to go on strike on August 10 and 11. However,they later withdrew the call.
British national nabbed from CSIA
A British national,R Harris ,was nabbed by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials on Monday morning from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) for having a satellite phone in her possession. Harris came to Mumbai from Muscat in an Air India flight. She managed to clear all security checks and walked inside towards the domestic terminal from where she was heading to Gujarat. Our personnel searched her bag and found the phone inside. She was handed to the police, said a CISF officer.
J Dey murder: Jigna Vora released on bail
Two weeks after Jigna Vora,accused in journalist J Dey murder case,was released on bail she stepped out of Byculla women jail on August 11,confirmed jail superintendent Satish Karnik. Vora was granted bail on July 27 on a cash surety of Rs one lakh and personal surety. Her release from jail was delayed as formalities related to the personal surety were to be completed. According to the conditions of her bail,Jigna will have to report to Crime Branch twice a month and submit her passport with the police.
