2 brothers of police colony held

The Samta Nagar police investigating the murder of an assistant police inspector’s 28-year-old son in Saraf Chudhury Nagar,Thakur Complex,Kandivali East on Friday arrested two men based on suspicion raised by the victim’s father.

The two arrested,Swapnil Yadav (25) and Chetan Yadav (22),are sons of a retired assistant police inspector. They and the victim,Sudhakar Sharma,were residents of the same housing society.

Senior police inspector S Kamble said the two suspects had apparently killed the victim over a past fued.

“A year ago,the deceased had beaten up the two brothers over a girl. The two accused had planned to take revenge,” Kamble said.

He added that on Sudhakar’s birthday on Wednesday,he had left around 10 am with his friends to attend a party. When he did not return at night,his parents assumed he was with his friends and did not suspect foul play.

The building watchman told the police that when Sudhakar entered the society past midnight,he was in an inebriated condition. The two suspects apparently confronted Sudhakar and killed him,the police said.

“We are yet unravel the sequence of events that led to the murder. A probe is on,” Kamble said.

On Thursday morning,the sweeper of the police colony noticed Sudhakar’s body near the rear gate and informed Sudhakar’s family,who called police.
