A cultural extravaganza,where performers from Denmark displayed their gymnastic stunts,held seminars,conducted group training and exchanged cultural views,concluded at Partap College of Education here today.
A team of 32 members from Denmark after their visit and performance at different institutions is finally ready to conclude Indo-Danish Folklore Festival 2008.
Charanjit Singh Atwal,Deputy Speaker,Lok Sabha,Government of India,was the chief guest at the valedictory eve. He congratulated the college management,principal,staff and students for showing great interest and making the event a roaring success. He appreciated the efforts of the authorities and congratulated Thomas Dahl for visiting Ludhiana for the sports and cultural exchange programme.
Sucha Singh Langah,Agriculture Minister,Punjab,presided over the function. While addressing the audience,he appreciated the efforts of Principal Dr Balwant Singh in organising the international event with cultural diversity its theme.
Hira Singh Gabria,Jail,Tourism,Culture and Printing and Stationery Minister,was the guest of honour. He also congratulated the college authorities and NDPT for conducting the event.
The Danish artists during their stay attended morning assembly,lectures,and seminars and interacted with the college students. They also conducted group activities on Christmas day and told the students about the importance of the day for them. They also taught craft and aerobics to the students by conducting workshops.
Today on the valedictory eve,besides NDPTs mesmerising performance,the students of the host college also gave a glimpse of Indian culture by presenting a bouquet of cultural programme. The eve was marked by folk dance,folk songs,display of gymnastics with rings,maintaining balance,and physical exercises etc. Danish performers with their Punjab attire and Bhangra thrilled the audience.
Principal Dr Balwant,in his address,shared experience of his Denmark visit and added that under the academics/cultural exchange programme,the students and members of the staff of Partap College of Education were planning to visit Denmark in the month of May 2009. He said,We are organising this international event with the theme of cultural diversity,and enhancing cross country educational,sports and cultural relations with Denmark.
