UT to do away with animal-driven carts
CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Administration has decided to do away with animal driven carts. The officials have decided that carts are over loaded and poor animal being left to bear the burden. According to the proposal,all those driving such carts would be given a subsidy for converting to them into a three-wheeler driven carts.
Appeal for ailing patient at DMCH
Ludhiana: A city residnet Varinder Sharma,30,who has been admitted in Neuro Surgery Ward of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital since May 9.
According to the doctor treating him,The patient suffered a serious head injury due to roadside accident and has already been operated for acute subdural haemorrhage and cranioplasty later on. Varinder Sharma was earlier employed as a worker in hosiery factory at Ludhiana and is the only earning member of the family,having a wife and two children to look after. Game show starts in city
Ludhiana: After the successful World premiere of The 4th Idiot on May 9 in Lucknow the exclusive screening of the much talked about movie the Fourth Idiot – has started in Ludhianas Gold Souk Grande from June 18. It will continue till June 21. LDFO,Bonn and Gold Souk Grande have partnered together to bring these 4th Idiot Movie plus game shows. At a special screening today,the producer and director of the movie Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury was also present there. This special screening was also attended by more than 700 people.
Brick kiln owners to continue strike
Ludhiana: A state-level meeting of Punjab Brick Kiln Association was held today. The members decided to continue with their indefinite strike which started from June 15. The owners are protesting the court cases which have been slapped against them. Ashwini Sood,one of the owners,said,More than 230 cases have been filed against different owners in high court but no one has been able to establish that bonded labourers are employed by us.
In addition to this,even kiln owners have to use fly ash for making bricks,which they have objected earlier as well that it is not possible for them and as per court orders they will have to take permission for digging earth from agriculture land for making bricks which is not suiting the association members.
The members said till their demands are not met,they will continue strike and during the strike the price of bricks has increased from from Rs 2700 per thousand bricks to Rs 3200 per thousand.
