First they were shooting around town and then Punjabi music videos went national with locales from Manali to the backwaters of Kerala being favourite haunts. Well,here’s the latest and it’s all the way in Hollywood. Well-known actor and director Girjaa Shankar has just completed the shooting of a video for singer Nirmal Sandhu’s Punjabi music album ‘Dostan Di Dosti’ in Hollywood,Los Angeles. The music for the album has been composed by Tejwant Kitoo while Amar Akbarpuri has penned the lyrics. Hollywood-based actors like Betsy,Amarapali,Ashish Wahi,Paul Harika and Aileen will be seen in the video. “All the eight songs have been rendered beautifully by Nirmal who most don’t know is also an aeronautical engineer in a major American airline,” informed Girjaa Shankar. The album ‘Dostan Di Dosti’ boasts of a potpourri of styles though the theme of all the songs and ghazals is “separation”. “Even though the all-American crew didn’t understand the language,they really loved the melody and foot-tapping music,” added Shankar who has shot for the album in Los Angeles,Hollywood,Beverly Hills,Palos Verdes and other beautiful locations in California,USA. The album is set for a March 2009 launch.
