13-year-old Tanvi from Chandigarh has been invited by AIFF to attend AFC Under-14 camp to be held in Bhopal
After leading India in the Under-13 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup in Ho Chi Minh City,Vietnam last year, life has never been the same for Chandigarh’s Tanvi Bhargava. Impressed with her performance, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has invited her for the AFC Under-14 camp, starting from March 5 at Ajmer. “I got a call from my parents at February 22 telling me that they have received a letter from AIFF asking me to join the camp. I was hoping to get the call but I was never sure,” said the 13-year-old footballer brimming with joy.
The very fact that she is the lone player from Chandigarh this time also to make it to the list gives her immense pleasure. “I know I am the lone Chandigarh football player in the list and it is such a good feeling. Finally,Chandigarh football is coming up. With the Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA) proving training to girls also, more and more girls are embracing the sport,” added Tanvi who studies at Mayo College in Ajmer.
After the Under-14 AFC Cup that will be played in Korea in April,Tanvi will try hard to give shape to her dreams. “I want to represent India at the senior level. But before that,I want to play football at every level before making it to the senior squad. Such regular camps would help me prim my game and mature into a better footballer,” said the confident player who will leave for Bhopal on February 4.
