Calling the shots
After a long gap, actor Nana Patekar will soon don the director’s hat again. He last directed Prahaar, starring Madhuri Dixit,in 1991. “I’ve already written the script for the film and selected Deepika Padukone to play the lead role,” said the versatile actor, who will soon be seen in Prakash Jha’s political thriller Rajneeti. We did notice Nana’s pointed silence on the subject of the male protagonist in his film. What’s the matter Mr Patekar?

Tweeting to glory
Looks like it’s not just the cine world who’s enamoured with Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra but the rather imposing and ever-growing one of Twitter as well. The actress who has 1,96,903 followers on Twitter was invited to the Twitter headquarters in San Francisco where she met the site’s co-founder Biz Stone. “Had a great time. Thanks Biz and team for the wonderful hospitality,” tweeted the actress. Way to go Priyanka. If Twitter had a lifetime achievement award,we know who’d be the prime candidate to win it.

Trophy time
Bollywood fans in the UK will get a chance to interact with some of the biggest names in the Hindi film industry at the Tongues on Fire 12th London Asian Film Festival. The festival will open with a BAFTA interview with Abhishek Bachchan on Friday. This will be followed by an Opening Gala Dinner, where Jaya Bachchan will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Abhishek is also scheduled to hold an interactive session with his fans. We wonder whether the organisers have considered renaming the function as the “Enough Bachchan overload to last us a lifetime” awards.
