No matter what she tries her hand at,anchoring will always remain this television stars first love
What attracted you to the show Destination Love on UTV Bindass?
I have always been a VJ and anchoring shows is my forte. Sometimes I find it quite weird that people make rules about just doing one thing at a time. For instance, when you are doing films people expect you to just stick to films, but I always do things that really interest me. With Destination Love I got a chance to not just talk on screen but also travel around the country.
But this one seems to be yet another dating show. What is its USP?
Me. Besides, the show takes you to places like Chandigarh,Kolkata,Hyderabad,Bengaluru and has people from those regions participating, unlike most dating shows which are concentrated in metropolitan cities.
Hooking up on television seems to be the new trend. Do we really need television shows to find our soulmates?
I have always believed in destiny. And I honestly think that you could meet your soulmate or true love wherever and whenever. So one should keep ones options open, because you never know what might happen. You might just end up meeting someone special on a television show.
There was a point when dating was a novel concept in India. But over the years, meeting new people has become easier. Why do people choose television as a medium then?
Most people who come on these shows, just want to be seen on television; at least thats what I believe. I have anchored many shows and while interacting with participants or guests I have noticed that most of them have always wanted to be on television in some way or the other. And dating shows,I think, provide a good platform.
You have been an anchor and also a participant on Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi. Narrate your experience of being on the two ends of the spectrum.
In Fear Factor, there was no gossiping or backbiting. And that is what I liked best about the show. Unlike other reality shows,we just stuck to our tasks and at the end of the day went back home. But I have always enjoyed being an anchor more because I love to talk and I can talk for hours on end.
Between films, television and modeling how do you manage your time?
It is not really difficult because I do just one thing at a time. Reality shows and films are a little more hectic than modeling. But then once I am done with my schedule I take a two-week break and I am raring to go again. Even a five-day trip to Goa does me a world of good.
What are the films you are currently working on?
My last film was Kurbaan. Since that experience I have decided to just stick to big banner films because the production houses are more organised and co-ordinated,unlike small budget films which never get done on time.
