In yet another development in the case of pilferage of ammunition from various police weapon stores in UP,the state STF,on Monday,claimed to have arrested another wanted accused from Naka area of Lucknow. The STF team recovered a .32 bore pistol and 50 live cartridges of .9mm from the possession of the arrested accused.
The IG (Law & Order),AP Maheshwari said the arrested accused Akash alias Guddu,a native of Mau district of UP and at present staying in Sheikhpur district of Bihar used to supply the ammunition to Naxal groups and criminals of Bihar and West Bengal.
He said constable Ram Kripal Singh arrested on April 30 had revealed that he used to sell off live cartridges to Akash and two others Dilip and Shanker. Dilip and Shanker were arrested on May 2. Akash confessed to have purchased cartridges of .9mm and self-loaded rifle (SLR) from Ram Kripal during the last few years,Maheshwari said.
