Muzaffarnagar riots: State extends commission’s tenure

The commission to probe the causes behind the riots was appointed by the state government September 9.

The state government has decided to extend the tenure of one-member commission formed to look into the Muzaffarnagar riots. The Justice (retd) Vishnu Sahai commission was to submit its report in two months’ time.

Secretary (Home) Kamal Saksena said the government has decided to increase the tenure of the commission but is still working on its duration. The commission to probe the causes behind the riots and any possible administrative lapses in controlling the violence was appointed by the state government September 9.
