BJP MP Maneka Gandhi on Wednesday said she would file a case against the Railways and the ITBP in connection with the death of 19 people who had come for a recruitment drive earlier this month.

“I would take legal opinion from lawyers of the Supreme Court on returning to Delhi,” said Maneka,who represents Aonla constituency. She blamed the ITBP authorities for the February 1 incident in which several youths had fallen to death from a train crammed with ITBP aspirants. The youths had also gone on a rampage here over alleged inadequate arrangements for the recruitment camp.

BJP to protest ‘unsafe’ UP

The BJP women wing will organise a state-level protest against crimes against women in Lucknow on February 10. The wing’s state president Madhu Mishra said that despite having a woman chief minister,women were not safe in Uttar Pradesh.

“Every day,we hear of a case of rape or molestation and the poor have no one to listen to their plea. What can one expect from a party whose ministers and MLAs are themselves involved in such cases? We can aptly say that the law and order situation is really poor in UP,” said Mishra. The BJP Mahila Morcha will organise the protest at Lucknow and submit a memorandum to the governor. ENS
