The New Year brought relief to the eight doctors from Uttarakahnd who were transferred to Uttar Pradesh but did not get posting as the state government released the orders of the postings on December 30.
While four among them have already joined duty, the rest are expected to report for duty in a week as soon as the posting letters reach them.
The Indian Express had reported earlier this month that these doctors, some of them had been without posting for over a year and their salaries have been suspended since, were running from pillar to post for their postings.
As the issue was related to inter-state postings, only senior officials could decide on their postings and the matter was pending at the government level, said Dr S P Ram,Director General (Health and Family Welfare).
All the orders have not reached the directorate yet,but some doctors, who had their posting orders in hand, have already joined, he added.
When the state was divided in 2000,around 300 doctors were to return to Uttar Pradesh in a phased manner. The last posting of around 10 doctors was delayed as following anomalies in some transfers from Uttarakhand, the chief secretary had ordered scrutiny of inter-state transfers.
The files of these doctors, hence, circulated from one department to the other before the chief secretary gave a go ahead to the transfers.
While Dr P K Bandil,Dr Rajendra Kumar and Dr Harendra Singh have been posted in the newly functional Raj Narayan District Hospital in Lucknow,Dr S K Jain and Dr D S Nabiyal have been posted in the newly established Mathura-Vrindavan Hospital.
Dr S P Rai,Dr S K Singh and Dr B P Singh are yet to get their joining letters. Though sources in the Medical and Health department said they have been posted in Ambedkarnagar,Agra and Chandauli respectively.
Another doctor,Dr Ganga Mahesh, was relieved on September 30 and asked to join the Health Directorate on October 1. On October 13,his posting was suspended and he is still to get another one. I expect it to come sometime this month, said Mahesh.
