Irked over the murder of a teenage boy,a mob of locals attacked the locality of the suspects and set ablaze 13 hutments in Payagpur of Bahraich district on Friday night. The mob also clashed with the police team which tried to pacify the locals,leaving a station officer critically injured. V P Srivastava,Additional Superintendent of Police of Bahraich,said Hari Om (14) of Payagpur had gone missing on Thursday evening.

School principal held

The principal of a school was arrested on Saturday for allegedly molesting a Class VI student in City Kotwali of Bahraich district. R S Suman,SHO of Kotwali,said that the accused,Khalid Mehmood,principal of Crescent Public School at Kadipura locality,had called the 12-year-old student in his room and allegedly molested her on Saturday morning. Later,the girl’s father lodged a FIR.

Accident at construction site,one dies

One labourer died while three others were injured at a private construction site in Qaiserbagh area on Saturday. According to the police,the victims were working in the basement when a mound of mud caved in.

“A lot of mud and rubble that was accumulated at the site suddenly collapsed and the labourers got trapped,” said Sub-Inspector Ashwani Kumar Pandey.

The victims were taken to a private hospital,from where the doctor referred Gokhran (25),who was seriously injured,to the trauma centre where he was declared dead on arrival. “No case has been registered as yet. If any complaint is filed,then an FIR will be registered,” said Krishna Mohan,In-Charge of Qaiserbagh police station.  

Labourer commits ‘suicide’

Twenty five-year-old Radhey allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of his residence in Hasanganj area on Saturday afternoon. Radhey,a daily wage labourer,was alone in the house. According to police,Radhey was a habitual drinker and often quarreled with his wife.

‘Godman’ booked in abduction case

Ghaziabad: A self-proclaimed godman in Ghaziabad has been booked for abducting his cousin. Police sources stated that the accused,Anup Kumar Sahay,is a resident of Vijay Nagar and had been operating as a godman from the area since the last several years.

According to a complaint filed by Subha Srivastava,mother of the victim,the accused along with his brother Ashok Kumar Sahay had abducted her daughter,Priyanka. “Priyanka has been missing since February 15 morning when she went to the market,” Subha said in her complaint.

Police sources said that the two accused — Anup and Ashok — are cousins of Priyanka and were regular visitors to their house in Raj Nagar area of the city.

Superintendent of Police (City),Ghaziabad,Avdhesh Kumar Vijeta said the police had received a complaint on Saturday. “We are investigating the matter and are hopeful of making a breakthrough soon. The self-proclaimed godman has been booked under Section 363,313 and 366 of the IPC which pertain to kidnapping and forcing a woman to undergo abortion without her will.

In Chitrakoot,godman denies role in sex racket

Allahabad: The Delhi Police on Saturday took Shiv Murat Dwivedi (39) alias Ichchadhari Sant Swami Bhimanandji Maharaj Chitrakootwale,the alleged kingpin of the high-profile sex racket,to Chitrakoot in the hope of making some recovery. Dwivedi was taken on remand by Delhi Police on March 4. Saket station house officer Dhram Deo and his team took Dwivedi to Chitrakoot by Rewanchal Express. Dwivedi was first kept in the Manikpur police station and later taken to his ashram at Chamrauha under the same police station. When asked by reporters in Chitrakoot,Dwivedi admitted to his relations with slain dacoit Dadua but denied involvement in any crime. Asked about the similarity in the design of a temple at Chamrauha being constructed by him and the one at Kabra constructed by Dadau a few years ago,he said he had once visited the temple in Fatehpur district and found “the model of the temple very attractive”. He,however,pleaded innocence in the sex racket issue saying some politicians of the ruling party had framed him.
